Microsoft releases Kinect SDK 2.0

Microsoft has released version 2.0 of its Kinect SDK allowing developers to deploy apps using the motion sensing peripheral to the Windows Store.

The free update features 200 improvements including enhancements to the Visual Gesture Builder, Kinect Studio and Kinect Fusion. The firm also noted there are no fees for runtime licences of commercial applications developed with the SDK.

As well as an updated SDK, Microsoft has released a new adapter kit that allows developers to use the Xbox One Kinect for PC and tablets.
