Microsoft unlocks Xbox Live Gold for Grand Theft Auto Online

Non-paying members of Xbox Live will this weekend be able to access all the benefits normally reserved for paying Gold members.

The promotion will run from this Friday (October 4th) until Sunday (October 6th) and includes a number of countries, one of which is the UK.

This means free multiplayer access for everyone – which will be particularly welcomed by Grand Theft Auto V owners, thanks to yesterday’s release of Grand Theft Auto Online.

Although of course all that depends on Rockstar’s ability to sort out the game’s teething problems.

The free weekend will also offer access to Netflix, which means in conjunction with the video on demand service’s 30 day free trial punters will be able to sample the much-discussed Breaking Bad.

The following countries are included in the promotion: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
