Miitomo smashes 10m downloads globally

More than 10m people worldwide have signed up to Miitomo,Nintendo’s first foray into the mobile games space.

This was announced as part of the platform holder’s financial report today – the firm also announced this news via Twitter (below).

Nintendo has also revealed that over 300 million conversations have taken place on the app, and 20m Miifotos have been taken. To celebrate the 10m milestone, Nintendo is running a special ten-day promotion.

Miitomo launched on March 17th in Japan and the UK on March 31st. Within a week of launching in Japan, it was downloaded one million times.

Following its launch in the UK and America, Nintendo revealed that the title was on three million phones globally. Thus, seven million people have signed up to Miitomo in the month of April 2016.

The platform has unveiled that it is working on mobile games based on its Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing properties.

In its financial statement today,Nintendo said that it will ‘continuously release new apps in order to expand the revenue base as a business’.
