Newly appointed HR Penny Handscomb to lead its search for dozens of staff

Mind Candy readies GDC recruitment drive

British games studio Mind Candy is looking to take on dozens of new staff this year as it continues to grow its Moshi Monsters brand and ambitions as an entertainment company.

Leading its recruitment push is its new chief people officer Penny Handscomb (pictured).

Handscomb and 20 other Mind Candy employees will be attending the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next week to meet and greet potential employees.

The company has approximately 90 open positions, hiring for its San Francisco and London office. Some of the development opens include artists, designers, production officers, backend and systems developers and QA roles.

This recruitment drive follows Mind Candy’s recent move to a new 30,000 sq ft HQ in Shoreditch, London.

“Mind Candy has an audacious vision: to create the greatest entertainment company in the world for this digital generation. To achieve this we need to hire talented people who love what they do,” Handscomb told our sister publication MCV.

“We’re inspired by the culture of Pixar and want to create entertainment that captivates the next generation across new platforms and devices.”

Mind Candy hired more than 100 people in 2012 and its aims to surpass that this year.

Handscomb joined Mind Candy at the end of 2012. She joined the digital entertainment company from ShoeDazzle, where was chief talent officer. Before that she was the senior VP of human resources and training at Provide Commerce, known for its ProFlowers brand.

Moshi Monsters, Mind Candy’s hit brand of online monster pets for children aged six to 12, has garnered over 75 million registered users, and has produced spin-off toys, magazines, books, soundtrack CDs, trading cards and more besides.

Mind Candy can be found at GDC booth number CP 2316 in the Career Pavillion.
