Future of MOBA Gigantic up in the air as studio seeks funding solution to financial troubles

Motiga to temporarily lay off a ‘significant’ number of staff

Gigantic creator Motiga has suffered yet another round of layoffs.

In December, the developer was forced to part with 16 staff and delay its upcoming MOBA to 2016.

Now, in addition to those cuts, a ‘significant percentage’ of staff have been temporarily laid-off as a result of money troubles.

"Our financial situation is such that we are unable to continue supporting the entirety of the studio at this time," revealed CEO Chris Chung.

"Though we are in active and promising discussions with a number of potential investors, the timing for those negotiations extends beyond the resources we have to maintain the staffing required to continue development on Gigantic."

Chung confirmed that Motiga would support Gigantic for ‘as long as we are able’, and would aim to rehire those affected by the lay offs as soon as possible:

“Our goal at this time is to work aggressively to identify the resources we need to rehire the members of the Motiga family that were laid off today, securing our financial future so that the Gigantic community can continue to work with us to develop this title, and ultimately bring the complete Gigantic experience to the marketplace."
