Dawn of Titans joins Farmville match-three title and mobile Empires & Allies in social games firm's line-up

NaturalMotion leads Zynga’s 2015 mobile charge

NaturalMotion has unveiled a brand new action strategy game, which will mark parent Zynga’s first entry into the mobile action strategy category.

Dawn of Titans is the first game the Oxford-based studio has developed since being acquired by Zynga at the start of last year. It tasks players with "commanding armies of thousands, training titans and leading their alliance to victory".

The game will be built on NaturalMotion’s proprietary mobile engine that the studio claims will "create unprecedented mobile visuals, animation and depth-of-gameplay that supersedes anything found today on mobile". It is expected to launch globally in 2015.

Dawn of Titans is one of up to 10 mobile games Zynga plans to release in 2015, as part of its "100 per cent mobile-first" strategy, which Don Mattrick discussed in the firm’s latest financial report. The NaturalMotion owner reported losses of $226m for 2014.

Other mobile games planned include a portable version of Empires & Allies, a Facebook strategy game that is currently being soft launched in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India. It is slated for a worldwide launch within the next few months.

Zynga will also enter the match-three category with FarmVille: Harvest Swap, a new puzzle game based on its most famous franchise. This will be launched as a cross-platform mobile and web game.

The firm has already released a new mobile game this year in the form of Words on Tour, a variation on its Words With Friends IP.

Last year, Zynga entered the endless runner category with Looney Tunes Dash!
