NBA 2K17 will support HDR on Xbox One S

2K’s annual basketball franchise will be the first title to support the new visual technology included in the Xbox One S.

Microsoft’s redesigned, smaller version of the Xbox One supports both 4K output and HDR (High Dynamic Range). The former offers a significantly increased pixel count over 1080p, while the latter offers a greater range of contrasted colours, improving the overall look of games.

GameSpot reports that while titles such as Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Scalebound will support HDR, it has now been confirmed that 2K’s NBA 2K17 will also support it – making it the first commercially available game to do so.

Xbox One S also runs some titles better than the older machine. This isn’t a feature openly advertised by Microsoft – indeed, at one stage it was pretty much denied – but testing has found that is in fact the case.

The 1TB and 500GB versions of the Xbox One S will be released in the UK on September 22nd. The 2TB version of the console has already been and gone.
