Neeb becomes the first foreigner to win a StarCraft II event in Korea

The one rule of StarCraft II is that the Koreans always win, but now that rule has been broken as Alex "Neeb" Sunderhaft has won the 2016 KeSPA Cup.

Neeb’s 4-0 victory over Cho "Trap" Sung Ho in the grand final makes him the first StarCraft II player to ever win a major event on Korean soil. To put that into perspective StarCraft II came out way back in 2010.

What is even more impressive is that Neeb is the first non Korean player to win a major StarCraft event in the country for 16 years. The last time it happened was in May 2000, when Guillaume "Grrrr…" Patry won the 2000 Hanaro Tongshin OnGameNet Starleague. Neeb at the time would have been just two years old.

The win not only gives Neeb a cool $18,100 but also qualifies him for Blizzcon where the eighteen year old will hope to continue his success. Playing on home soil back in America could give him the boost that he needs to go all the way and end up as the StarCraft II World Champion.
