New 2K Games studio led by Bioshock Infinite, Gears of War director

2K Games has formed a new San Francisco-based studio to be led by Gears of War and Bioshock Infinite vet, Rod Fergusson.

The announcement was originally made via Fergusson’s Twitter, with 2K later confirming the news to Polygon.

"We are happy to confirm that Rod is heading up a new development studio, but we have no further announcements at this time,” a 2K rep stated.

[We’re working on] an exciting new project…" Fergusson added. "We’ll have lots more to say moving forward but nothing more today."

The studio makes it three Bay Area offices for 2K Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive.

Fergusson left Irrational Games earlier this year, following the release of Bioshock Infinite. He had joined the studio in August 2012 as the project’s executive vice presient of development.

He also served for seven years at Epic Games – first as an executive producer, then later a director of production – for the Gears of War series.
