Nguyen pondering Flappy Bird return, will release new game this month

The creator of Flappy Bird has said that he is considering re-releasing the title.

Shy Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen famously pulled surprise hit Flappy Bird from app stores last month after saying that its success was too much to bear.

However, in an interview with Rolling Stone he says that he is considering” re-publishing the game on iOS and Google Play, although he would ensure it incorporates a new warning, advising players to please take a break”.

He also has three games currently in development – an untitled cowboy-themed shooter, a vertical flying title called Kitty Jetpack and an ‘action chess game’ called Checkonaut.

Nguyen explained a little more about his development strategy, saying that when approaching smartphone game design he pictured how people play, one hand holding the train strap – when you play game on a smartphone the simplest way is just tapping”. These are the people he designs for.

Amazingly, the dev he hasn’t yet told his parents about the Flappy Bird phenomenon because they parents don’t understand games”. He also admitted to feeling relived since the game’s removal, saying: I can’t go back to my life before, but I’m good now."
