Nintendo considering changes to Wii ad strategy

With reports of expensive bundles and extortionate eBay prices plaguing those desperate to track down the increasingly rare Wii in time for Christmas, platform holder Nintendo has told MCV that it is considering changing some elements of its pre-Christmas marketing strategy.

Marketing Week

reports that all of Nintendo’s allocated Wii ad space will be replaced with DS advertisements until the New Year, and that the non-seasonally specific TV spots will be run after Christmas when stock will hopefully be more plentiful.

However, a Nintendo UK spokesperson told MCV that a blanket strategy change of this nature is not currently planned, stating that the company is "potentially looking at moving some advertising on some products into early 2008", and adding that nothing has yet been finalised.
