Brain Training once again helps Nintendo top our developer chart

Nintendo continues grip on UK retail

We’ve just updated our exclusive monthly developer chart, which shows Nintendo’s continuing success in the market as it reclaims the top position thanks to sales of the original Brain Training title.

The chart is based on the sale of studios’ games at UK retail in the month of June and is supplied by Chart-Track, just like our yearly Develop 100 report.

Highest new entry: Infinity Ward enters the chart just behind Nintendo, the four-platform spread of the critically-acclaimed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare propelling them into second place.

Other new entries: Bioware might run a slow ship with regards to releases, but all signs point to them releasing yet another commercial success, charting at number 14 with Mass Effect despite only being on sale for a small period of November. Also debuting in our chart is Neversoft, benefiting from being the new developers of the coveted and hugely popular Guitar Hero franchise.

Highest climber: Japanese wrestling specialists Yuke’s continue to ride the wave of the WWE fandom, becoming this month’s biggest climbers as WWE Smackdown vs. Raw helps them jump 64 places into sixth place.

Other notable climbers: Dream tie-in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games gives Sega a leg up to 16th, a rise of 63 places, and Ubisoft Montreal similarly rose 28 places to 3rd position on the back of Assassin’s Creed.

The Simpsons Effect: Making a big impact on our chart this month is The Simpsons Game which, thanks to a massively multi-platform release handled by three companies, sees EA Redwood Shores (Xbox 360, PS3) going up one place, Rebellion (PS2, Wii, PSP) rising 50 places to 7th place and Amaze (DS) ascending 18 places to 11th.
