Nintendo rules official UK hardware figures

New GfK ChartTrack sales data has revealed that the installed base of current generation consoles has more than doubled in the space of a year.

The data, which comes from GAME Group financial presentation, the current UK installed console base shared by the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, DS and PSP equals 17.3 million units, up from 8.8 million last September.

According to Edge, in the year since September 2007, the Wii’s installed base has jumped from 1.1 to 3.6 million units.

During the same 12 months, the Xbox 360’s installed base has grown from 1.3 to 2.3 million, the PS3’s from 0.4 to 1.4 million, the DS’s from 3.8 to 7.1 million, and the PSP’s from 2.2 to 2.9 million.
