Sony will not be holding its usual press conference in Cologne this summer, opting instead to host another event later in the year.
GameSpot reports that PlayStation will host an international media briefing at Paris Games Week in October. This will be the first time Sony has not held a Gamescom press conference since the event started in 2009.
“We’re delighted to announce that we will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on October 27th,” the platform holder said.
“With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period of gaming.”
2015 will also be the first year Sony exhibits at Paris Games Week, an event that ramped up in size last year. Microsoft and Nintendo are also expected to attend, although there is no word on whether or not they will host press conferences as well.
Gamescom 2015 takes place in Cologne, Germany from August 5th to 9th.
