Develop Awards finalist adds new character to raise money, with choose-what-you-donate option on PC

Nomad Games teams up with SpecialEffect for charity DLC

UK studio Nomad Games has created new content for its flagship game that will raise money for games charity SpecialEffect.

A new character, the Shaman, is launching today for the dev’s Talisman: Digital Edition, a mobile and PC version of the classic Games Workshop board game. It was chosen through a competition run by Nomad and SpecialEffect in which fans could submit ideas for new characters.

The Shaman will cost £1.49 in the mobile version, while PC users will have the option to choose what they pay for the character. All revenue raised will go to SpecialEffect.

“We’re delighted that The Shaman will finally be available for Talisman,” said Nomad boss Don Whiteford. “She’s a very special character, given that she’s been created jointly by the Talisman community and SpecialEffect.

“We are blown away by the work that SpecialEffect does to support people with disabilities to play games, and we’re honoured to lend our support to them in terms of raising awareness for this very special charity, but also to support them financially via sales of The Shaman.”

Nomad Games is currently a finalist in this year’s Develop Awards, with Talisman: Digital Edition earning the studio a slot in the Use of a Licence or IP category.
