New Cheshire-based studio Nomad Games has picked up the rights to develop titles relating to the million-selling Games Workshop board game Talisman.
As revealed by Develop last month, Nomad Games was formed by the founder of Juice Games Don Whiteford, alongside a number of other ex-THQ Digital Warrington developers.
The studio said it plans to adapt the Talisman franchise to multiple platforms including PC, smartphones and other digital devices.
The game will be developed using cross-platform SDK Marmalade.
The first title currently in development is called Talisman Prologue, and is slated for release on PC before the end of the year, with a smartphone and tablet version to be released at a later date.
"While Talisman fans have been waiting to see their favourite game in virtual form, we have also focused on appealing to new players," said Nomad design director Carl Jackson.
"Talisman Prologue, is not only a fresh spin on the game, it’s designed to help players become Talisman masters."
Games Workshop licensing head Jon Gillard added: "We really enjoyed working with the guys from Nomad on Kill Team and are proud of the game that resulted from that relationship.
"We’re looking forward to celebrating the 30th anniversary of Talisman by complementing it’s phenomenal ongoing success as a board game by releasing it for digital platforms."
