After last week’s news that Desura had been bought by OnePlay and was planned to reopen, many developers have been talking about whether or not the outstanding payments they were owed from the failed indie store would be paid out to them.
On Friday, the company confirmed via Twitter that they wouldn’t be honouring any of Desura’s debts to Twitter user LewieP who tweeted: "Hello @Oneplaycom I would be very interested to hear about your plan for paying devs the money they are owed by @Desura. Plus interest."
In response, OnePlay tweeted: "We had no involvement with previous owner and have only purchased some activities from the bankruptcy, so the answer is no"
This has started a deluge of tweets at the company with many people claiming they would be pulling their games from the service and suggesting this could be the death of the yet to be relaunched platform, despite explaining that while developers may be owed money from games sold on Desura, the money was owed from the sites former owner Bad Juju, and not from Desura.
Bad Juju has now filed for bankruptcy and while it’s unclear how many developers have still not received money owed for game sales, it’s likely they’ll have to take these grievances to the court handling the bankruptcy of Bad Juju.
