Hats off as Clark moves to Finnish mobile studio

Oscar Clark leaves Papaya for Appifier

Mobile gaming evangelist Oscar Clark has left Papaya Mobile for a similar position at Finland-based Applifier.

Clark was at Papaya for a year, where he advised game developers and publishers on how to maximise the benefits of social game design and freemium business models.

Although Clark has parted amicably with Papaya, according to a press release sent on behalf of the studio, the same is not true of Oscar and his infamous headwear.

“After lengthy negotiations failed to see terms agreed between the two, Clark won’t be joined by his faithful hat, which has decided to stay on at Papaya in the newly created role of Hat-in-Chief.

“The hat said: ‘Frankly, I’m tired of covering for him – every good game design idea he’s had in the last 10 years has been down to me. Sure, he managed jobs with 3UK, Nvidia and Sony Playstation, but it was only when I agreed to work with him that his career really took off.

“‘As soon as the world sees him naked from the ears upwards they’ll see through all his brave talk of freemium this, and social that. I’m sick and tired of it.’”

However, a tweet from Clark yesterday reveals that the hat has instead decided to stick with him.
