And trade body UKIE has assisted more than 30 of them in travel and exhibition costs

Over 80 UK game companies attend Game Connection Europe

More than 80 UK companies are doing business at this year’s Game Connection Europe, and over 30 are exhibiting as part of the UK industry area run by UKIE.

The conference and exhibition, which begins today in Paris, sees a record numbers of UK games businesses in attendance.

Of the 80 UK companies, UKIE has saved businesses over £34k in exhibition costs through the UKTI TAP scheme. The UK business area will be home to over 30 British companies at booths 243 and 233 on the show floor.

The UK trade body will be on-hand facilitating meetings at the UK industry area during the three-day show and is hosting a special VIP drinks reception on Wednesday, December 4th at 8pm, sponsored by Unity 3D and Skill Search, to help companies do business. Those interested in attending should email: alexa@ukie.org.uk.

“Trade shows like Game Connection are designed to help UK companies do important business deals. We are here to fly the flag for our fantastic industry, to help companies afford to come to events like this, which are vital to their business development. Best of all we get to showcase the huge breadth of fantastic UK games talent to the rest of the world,” said UKIE CEO Jo Twist.

Iain Gilfeather, technical director for Fat Pebble, one of the UK exhibitors, added: “As a microstudio, being given the chance to be at Game Connection and make potential deals is vital. Being part of the UK industry collective and flying the flag for the UK at these international events really helps to draw the world’s attention to the UK industry and the creative talent and opportunities we offer. Without the grant from UKTI which UKIE administers on our behalf, it would be much more difficult for us to afford to be part of this showcase.”
