Paris Saint-Germain enters eSports with Millenium partnership

Yet another European football team is entering the world of eSports, this time it’s Paris Saint-Germain, the current French league champions.

PSG has signed a partnership with the WEBEDIA group, which owns French organisation Milleniun and organises tournaments in the region. Through this partnership PSG will create its own eSports franchise, which they claim will be made up of internationally-renowned professional players.”

Weirdly the team didn’t really give much more information than that, instead instructing fans to pay attention to a press conference towards the end of the month that will give more details.

Paris Saint-Germain’s entry into the world of eSport is an historic event for the club,” said Fabien Allgre, Paris Saint-Germain’s Director of Merchandising and Brand Diversification. It ties in with the project led by our Chairman Nasser Al-Khelafi over the last five years to develop a high-profile international brand. We are venturing into this sector with a great deal of ambition and are eager to insert our Rouge & Bleu teams into the history of these new disciplines. We consider Webedia to be the best partner for making this historic launch a success.”

We are proud to guide Paris Saint-Germain in this new venture, whose aim is to place the club at the highest international level in eSport,” said Cdric Page, Managing Director of Webedia Gaming. Our objective is to develop this great brand worldwide, using this growing phenomenon as our basis, thanks to our expertise in the sector and our editorial assets which are leaders in their respective markets.”
