PC RTS Age of Mythology getting a second expansion pack, 12 years after its first

Perhaps as proof that it’s never too late for DLC, 13-year-old PC game Age of Mythology is getting a new expansion pack.

The real-time strategy title, which features a host of mythical figures and creatures, was originally released back in 2002. Its first (and until now, only) expansion set, The Titans, followed one year later in 2003.

Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon is being developed by Forgotten Empires and SkyBox Labs, the former of which created the new expansion for Age of Empires II HD, and will focus on Chinese legends.

A remastered version of the base game and the Titans add-on was launched for PC last year as Age of Mythology: Enhanced Edition.

For great games like Age of Mythology, these years are merely a number,” the developer said in the announcement of the pack.

With the collective experience and with expansions for the Age of Empires II series, Age of Mythology almost feels like the next logical step, although next time we probably shouldn’t wait over a decade before taking on the challenge.”

No solid release date has been announced for Tale of the Dragon, but there will be a preview livestream of the expansion on October 2nd.
