UK developer looking to take on more staff for work on Unreal Engine 4

Pitbull commences hiring run to double studio size

Newcastle-based studio Pitbull is to double its headcount and hire up to 20 new staff as part of its work on Unreal Engine 4.

The developer is working across a number of disciplines on the engine, including physics, rendering, UI, gameplay, optimisation and mobile, PC and consoles.

As part of the partnership, studio MD Robert Troughton told Develop that Pitbull was looking to double its staff count to 40 over the next eight-to-nine months.

As well as working on Unreal Engine 4, the studio is also supporting a number of titles currently in development with UE3 and UE4.

Troughton said he was hoping to work on more elements of the new engine in future.

“With our improved relationship with Epic Games, we’re now able to recruit for many more positions at Pitbull – accelerating the development of Unreal Engine 4 as well as supporting several game titles currently in development with both UE3 and UE4,” said Troughton.

“Any developer worth their metal should definitely be dropping us an email – this is the best chance for anyone to work with next-generation tools and technologies.

“By building a team of the very best that the UK has to offer we’re able to create tools that will allow game developers to excel on current and future gaming platforms. We’re proud to have the opportunity to do this – and proud that it’s happening in the UK.”

Pitbull studios was formed in 2009, and has previously worked on titles such as Circus Challenge for Limbs Alive, and has also worked with Vatra Games, Playsoft and Geomerics on various projects.
