In more news presumably intended to be revealed at Sony’s Paris Games Week conference tonight, details about the platform holder’s eSports platform have arrived online.
IGN spotted what appears to be a homepage for something called the PlayStation Plus League. The portal name-drops a host of titles including PES 2016, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Rocket League, Mortal Kombat, Battlefield Hardline, Trials Fusion and Driveclub.
A League page for Project Cars also appears to be live. It details two divisions – Gold and Silver – with a monthly prize pool of €150 for the former and €50 for the latter. Which, in terms of eSports, is small fry to say the least.
?In order to participate, you must first play at least five matches in a placement tournament so that your skill level can be estimated as accurately as possible,” the Project Cars page explains. Once these are completed, you will be placed into a division for the ongoing season.
There are eight seasons, each lasting four weeks each. The total length of the Championship is about 32 weeks therefore.”
Details of a PlayStation eSports platform first emerged almost exactly a year ago. The news comes at a time where other big console players are making big moves into the sector.
