Report: Next Xbox specs leaked

Documents purportedly showing the hardware specifications for Microsoft’s next Xbox console have been leaked.

With only a few months until the rumoured E3 reveal of the console, codenamed ‘Durango’, the leak comes with a certain amount of weight to it.

The documents come from VGleaks.com, and describe an 8-core machine with 8 Gigs of DDR3 Ram.

The processor is of x86 architecture with a 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache for each 1.6 GHz core.

The cores are broken into two modules of 4 with a 2MB L2 cache between them for a total 4MB L2 cache.

The GPU is a custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor with 12 shader cores for a total of 768 threads, said to be capable of 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second at peak.

In addition to the 8gb of DDR3 at 68 GB/s, the Durango has 32 MB of ESRAM at 102 GB/s in a parallel bandwidth to system memory from the perspective of the GPU, resulting in a total peak bandwidth of 170 GB/s.

The console has a blue-ray player and will of course support Microsoft’s Kinect motion control system in addition to Wi-Fi and Ethernet.

At first glance, this suggests the PS4 will be significantly more powerful than the next Xbox, which adheres to earlier speculation on the consoles.
