Report: This year’s Call of Duty called Infinite Warfare, includes Modern Warfare remaster

It appears that there could be more than one Call of Duty game launching this year.

This year’s release in Activision’s shooter franchise could also be called Infinite Warfare. That’s according to a Reddituser– as reported by Videogamer – who spotted a listing for ‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ on the PS4’s storefront.

This naming has been backed up by another image from Reddit – again, reported by Videogamer – which showed a pre-order card for a ‘Legacy Edition’ Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in US retailer Target (pictured).

This image makes reference to ‘Modern Warfare Remastered’, suggesting that some of the Modern Warfare series are getting the current gen treatment.

This also reveals a Friday, November 4th release date.

We may know more about this year’s Call of Duty by next Tuesday (May 3rd). Retailer documents leaked to media personality Jim Sterling suggest advertising will appear on on that date.

This year’s Call of Duty is being developed by Infinity Ward, the minds behind the Modern Warfare series as well as 2013’s Ghosts. Give this fact, it’s possible that Infinite Warfare is a codename reflecting the studio name. But it’s unlikely POS materials would be printed with a placeholder name.

It has been rumoured that 2016’s Call of Duty would be a space shooter.
