Middleware firm resumes all services and work on game engine following liquidation and months of uncertainty

ShiVa Engine maker respawns as ShiVa Technologies

ShiVa Engine maker Stonetrip has reformed as ShiVa Technologies, and is once again working on the game engine.

Earlier this year Stonetrip entered liquidation, but the firm’s community manager Felix Caffier insisted things were not as bad as they appeared for the company, and promised "this is not the end of ShiVa".

Following months of uncertainty, the middleware outfit is now back in business as ShiVa Technologies SAS. Its stores are now back online and it is continuing with the development of the engine for upcoming releases.

New updates include ShiVa 1.9.2, which focuses on engine enhancements including speed improvements to 64-bit support. ShiVa 2.0, which has been in development for years, is also underway with improvements expected to be made to the tool’s editor. These include a new interface, native Mac support, making use of multicore processors and simplified profile management.

ShiVa has assured developers that all of their accounts, licenses, usernames, passwords and earnings on the Asset Store have all been preserved.

"ShiVa development is still headed by mostly the same people, notably CTO Nicolas Peri, who has been designing the engine from the ground up since the early days, and he will take ShiVa to the next level with the upcoming releases we have planned for you," read a statement from the firm.

"As for our customers, all your accounts, licenses, usernames, passwords, and earnings on the Asset Store have been preserved. Everything is exactly where you left it, make yourselves at home again! You will note that we left the asset store in Beta, because we had to turn the internal tax model on its head for the new company, and we cannot yet guarantee that it works with every product and every country."
