Sonic Generations speeds into view

Sega has at last officially confirmed the rumours that Sonic Generations is to be the next title for its speedy blue mascot.

The twist this time out is that Sonic will be playable both as he was back in his debut in 1991 and as he is now is his somewhat more fashion conscious, 3D guise. This is all because 2011 is Sonic’s 20th anniversary.

The title will feature a range of familiar settings playable both in 2D and 3D.

Sonic Generations will certainly be a fitting celebration for Sonic’s 20th Anniversary” Sega’s Sonic global brand director David Corless stated.

By having the classic 1991 Sonic that many fans know and love team up with his modern day incarnation, we are bringing back the nostalgia of the early days of Sonic and combining it with the innovation and stunning HD technology of the modern gaming era.

"Sonic Generations will bring to life the last twenty years of Sonic’s universe in a truly unique and imaginative way.”

Sonic Generations is due out on Xbox 360 and PS3 this Q4.
