Sony’s Charlie Hasdell joins PlayStack as creative director

UK publisher PlayStack has hired Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe’s Charlie Hasdell as its new creative director. Hasdell brings more than two decades worth of experience to the role, including his time as one of the key creatives on the multimillion-selling SingStar franchise.

Harvey Elliott, CEO of PlayStack, said: Charlieis an indispensable collaborator who is able to bring together creative and technical staff with invaluable insights into both disciplines. These skills allow him to innovate across a broad range of technologies from virtual reality and augmented reality to mobile devices and console hardware. With his experience and insight, he is able to give new direction and purpose to numerous projects.

Having first worked with Charlie seventeen years ago, I saw first-hand his passion and creative eye towards the development process. It’s a real pleasure to be able to work with Charlie again now, learning how his capabilities have grown, and seeing him contribute those talents towards the future of PlayStack.”

Hasdell added: It’s fantastic to be working with Harvey again after all these years. I always found him to be an approachable, charismatic and diplomatic leader with a keen eye on what it takes to make a successful game. It gives me great pleasure to bring my skills and expertise to the amazing talent within the PlayStack family.”

The news follows the recent appointment of Mads Jensen, who joined the publisher as COO and board director earlier this month, as well as former Creative England’s head of games Rob Crossley, who joined the publisher in July ashead of developer partnerships.
