Speaker submissions now open for Develop:Brighton 2019

Speaker submissions are now open for Develop:Brighton 2019.

Organisers Tandem Events are keen to invite proposals from a diverse range of speakers for the event taking place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, Brighton, UK, from Tuesday 9th to Thursday 11th July, 2019. The event – which "is shaped by some of the industry’s key figures" – aims to address all levels of the development community and will consist of tracks dedicated to design, art, audio, business, coding, evolve, and indie.

Owing to the expanded three-day format, last year’s Develop:Brighton – which attracted 2,369 attendees – hosted more sessions than ever when more than 120 speakers presented across 107 sessions, including keynote presentations from Shuhei Yoshida, Jade Raymond, and Chet Faliszek.

"Each year we strive to deliver a programme that is relevant to today’s game development community and offers valuable insights and practical advice for all attendees whatever the size of their studio or their area of interest," said Andy Lane, managing director at Tandem Events. "As ever, our goal is to bring the industry together with a programme of talks covering a wide range of topics our delegates are passionate about.

"My advice for those thinking about submitting a session is to be clear on who your talk is aimed at and the take-away an attendee would get from listening to you. Good luck everyone!"

Proposals will be accepted until February 13th, 2019. For more information, including details on session tracks and what makes a good submission, head to: www.developconference.com/call-for-speakers.

In a candid discussion at last year’s Develop:Brighton event, when asked why Sony’s studios were becoming best known for their single-player titles while the industry as a whole was moving more towards games-as-a-service type titles, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that he wished the company was "more successful on the multiplayer side as well", but acknowledged "making games of any type nowadays is so difficult".
