Studio initially working on browser game for children

Stormcloud Games forms in Scotland

Three experienced Scottish developers have formed a new game development studio in Dundee.

Stormcloud Games has been set up by Frank Arnot, Andy West and Pat McGovern, who have over 50 years of development experience between them, and have launched 45 games covering almost every genre and platform.

Some of the games they have worked on include Minecraft (XBLA), Perfect Dark (XBLA), Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Formula One, Star Trek: Conquest; Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun, NASCAR, Glasgow 2014 (Commonwealth Games) and Harry Potter: Quidditch.

The studio has already secured funding from the Prototype Fund, overseen by the University of Abertay, Dundee, to develop new intellectual property for a browser-based game aimed at six to 12-year-olds.

It is now looking for further investment for its first project, as well as new work-for-hire projects. While Stormcloud will consider most platforms and styles of gaming. The trio are particularly interested in Android, iOS and browser games, since these sectors are still seeing strong growth.

You can find out more about the company on its website.
