Mobile developer will refund costs to publishers if game fails to meet criteria

Tag Games offers money-back guarantee scheme

Mobile casual game developer Tag Games has unveiled a surprising new business model to tempt publishers – by offering a money-back guarantee if the game isn’t up to scratch.

The scheme objectively scores the product according to delivery objectives defined at the start of the project as well as external analysis, and is available for J2ME, BREW, iPhone, Blackberry and Smartphone projects.

The move follows one of Tag’s most sucessful years, in which it’s tripled headcount and maintained profitability. The move, it says, is there to assure publishers and IP holders about the potential of the studio.

“Tag has first-hand experience of the difficulties involved in a publisher or intellectual property owner selecting a trusted development partner," said MD Paul Farley.

"We realised that we could immediately and effectively reduce the risk to partners, from the development side of the equation. Tag has worked very hard to build its reputation of delivering an outstanding service in terms of scheduling, budget and game-play quality. We are proud to be the first developer to offer a money back guarantee for partners using our mobile development service.”
