The Division 2 shoots straight to No.1

As expected, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 debuted at the top of the UK charts, however physical sales for the title were a bit below what we expected and down 80 per cent compared to launch sales for 2016’s The Division. Most of these sales have likely shifted to digital, but it’s still a bit of a disappointing launch for the title, especially since there was no other big game launching at the same time and The Division 2 could have taken the lion’s share.

60 per cent of the sales for Ubisoft’s title went to PS4, 40 per cent went to Xbox One, and sales for physical PC copies were so anecdotal that they were not even taken into account in the total.

The only other new entry in the Top 40 was Bandai Namco’s One Piece World Seeker, debuting at No.28.

Meanwhile, having launched at the top of the charts last week, Devil May Cry 5 fell to No.6 with a 72 per cent drop in sales. Red Dead Redemption 2 remained steady at No.2 with a 22 per cent increase in sales, while GTA V gained seven spots to No.3 following a 121 per cent surge in sales due to promotions.

With the Lego Movie 2 Videogame releasing on Switch, sales for Warner Bros’ title increased 40 per cent week-on-week, charting at No.5.

Overall, the market was on the rise compared to last week, with unit sales up 20 per cent week-on-week and value up 38 per cent. Revenue was flat year-on-year, while unit sales were down 11.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.
