UK CHARTS: FIFA 10 is new No.1

There’s little surprise in this morning’s weekly games charts – FIFA 10 is number one.

In fact, the game has turned into one of the biggest releases ever. It has shifted hundreds of thousdans of copies in just three days on sale, no doubt thanks in part to aggressive price cutting at supermarkets.

It’s the biggest launch for a FIFA game ever, and the second biggest in UK history. It’s beaten only by GTAIV’s release from last year. According to Chart-Track 48 per cent of sales were on 360, 46 per cent were on PS3 and the rest on other formats.

Elsewhere in the charts, Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box holds on to second place in the charts, while Halo 3: ODST moves down to third.

The Top 10 is as follows:

1. FIFA 10
2. Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box
3. Halo 3: ODST
4. Need For Speed: Shift
5. Wii Sports Resort
6. Guitar Hero 5
7. MySims Agents
8. Colin McRae Dirt 2
9. Mario Kart Wii
10. Batman Arkham Asylum
