UK CS:GO player Owen ‘Smooya’ Butterfield benched by Epsilon Gaming

Owen ‘Smooya’ Butterfield has been benched from Epsilon Esports’ Counter-Strike roster.

Butterfield announced the news himself via a tweet on Wednesday evening.

Butterfield joined Epsilon in June alongside Lasse ‘maeve’ Elgaard and Cosmin-Mihai ‘CosmeeeN’ Butuc, replacing William ‘Draken’ Sundin and Henrik ‘REZ’ Sterner. Both players departed the team to join Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Butterfield seemed like a strong addition to the lineup, and Lauren ‘Pansy’ Scott picked him out as the best CS:GO player at Gfinity’s Elite Series. Epsilon have been struggling this year, failing to make a real impact, but after picking up Butterfield, Epsilon won the CS:GO segment of the Gfinity Elite Series.

It’s unknown at this point whether Butterfield will end up back on the roster or move to a different organisation will no doubt be seen shortly.
