With HD-DVD now officially dead and buried, the final former backer’s of Toshiba’s disc technology have now officially pitched their flags in the Blu-Ray camp.
reports that Paramount, the last outfit to confirm its intentions, quietly issued a statement earlier this week claiming: "We are pleased that the industry is moving to a single high-definition format, as we believe it is in the best interest of the consumer.
"As we look to begin releasing our titles on Blu-Ray, we will monitor consumer adoption and determine our release plans accordingly."
Universal Pictures, another formal backer of HD-DVD, was the first to follow Warner’s lead in moving exclusively to Blu-Ray only hours after Toshiba’s announcement.
The two studios join existing format supporters such as Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox (including MGM), Walt Disney and Warner.
