US: Halo Reach sells 3.3m

In addition to the huge success it enjoyed with its Xbox 360 hardware in the US in September, Microsoft also dominated the software charts thanks to the release of sci-fi shooter Halo: Reach.

NPD numbers show that the game sold 3.3m units in total in the US, becoming only the third game this generation along with Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2 to sell in excess of three million in its first month of release.

Other star performers included EA’s Madden NFL 11 and Capcom’s Dead Rising 2. Also note the Top Ten performances of both Activision’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Nintendo’s Metroid: Other M, neither of which have performed as well in the UK market.
