Valve has announced the addition of non-gaming software projects to its community voting portal Steam Greenlight.
Software developers with programs unaffiliated with games can now submit and attempt to get their work approved for distribution on Steam.
The move comes just weeks after Valve brought its own software line onto the digital distribution platform, confirming that the firm isn’t just dabbling in the expansion of its offerings beyond games.
The company has also added a concept section to the pages of Greenlight, allowing unfinished projects to receive feedback from the Greenlight community without actually being determined for approval.
Concepts are exempt from the $100 submission fee as well.
Greenlight has seen its share of ups and downs since its launch in August, but Valve appears to be smoothing things out. The portal has so far approved over 30 games for eventual release on Steam.
