Warner lines up movie hit for 2008

Warner Bros has spoken of its confidence in its upcoming multi-million dollar film adaptation, despite the fact that the firm is still to release a single unit onto the market.

Looney Tunes duo ACME Arsenal and Duck Amuck will be the publisher’s European debut releases come November 30th. But that hasn’t stopped buzz growing at the media giant for next year’s release of Speed Racer.

The title will arrive on DS, PS2 and Wii in conjunction with the movie of same name, overseen by the Wachowski brothers – the respected duo responsible for The Matrix trilogy.

EMEA marketing manager for Warner Maria Deevoy told MCV: Featuring a line-up of stars including Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman, Speed Racer a very strong box office hit contender.

It’s a natural extension from the Speed Racer movie to the video game and players will be able to take on the role of the characters from the film, getting behind the wheel of each character’s signature vehicles to experience first hand the film’s high adrenaline, combative racing style.”

The movie is based on a classic anime series, which follows a young driver in his quest for glory.

Warner’s Deevoy added: The car-fu style of action within the game will closely represent the action style being designed by the Wachowski brothers for the film itself. Get set for a game with pace and action.”
