Wiis first lightsaber game ready to do battle

LucasArts’ Star Wars: The Force Unleashed may be grabbing specialist headlines for being the ‘first ever Wii game with a lightsaber’ – but it will be pipped to the honour by Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

The Traveller’s Tales’ title is due out in November – giving would-be Jedi Masters the chance to ‘use the force’ of the Wii’s remote in plenty of time for Christmas.

And Traveller’s Tales believes that the opportunity to swing their own virtual ‘saber will prove too tempting for hordes of Star Wars fans – and could even help it nab the Christmas number one spot.

Richard Earl from TT Games’ marketing division told MCV: The Wii controller offers all sorts of new, fun and accessible ways for people to play with Lego characters – and swinging away with your lightsaber is a brilliantly cool part of the Lego Jedi experience.

Vader’s new Force Choke/Force Throw move has a particularly big impact, when you’re flinging enemies around using the Wii controller. Of course we hope The Complete Saga can hit the Christmas number one spot, but there are many other strong titles on the horizon. We’ll have to wait and see.”

LucasArts’ highly anticipated The Force Unleashed will follow next spring. The title gives gamers the chance to play as Darth Vader’s ‘secret apprentice’, wielding the Wii remote as a lightsaber and using the nunchuck to unleash their Force powers.
