The newly released 2011.1 version of Audiokinetic’s audio pipeline solution Wwise has introduced support for portable devices including the iOS platforms and 3DS.
“The video game industry is evolving. Casual and social games are becoming a focus for more partners," said Simon Ashby, VP of product strategy at Audiokinetic, explaining the motivations behind the update. "This also implies making games available on a wider range of media and devices.”
Audiokinetic has also introduced a new pricing model for those using Wwise for iOS projects, in an effort to make the tech accessible to a wider range of developers. Those users will now be able to license Wwise for $500.
Additionally, approved Nintendo 3DS developers that want to license Wwise will be able to purchase a license at $5,000.
