Xbox Live grows to 46 million subscribers as users clock up 18 billion hours of entertainment in 2012

Xbox 360 shifts 76 million units

More than 76 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide since its launch over seven years ago.

As well as selling an impressive number of units, the Xbox 360 has also been the number one selling console in the US for the last 24 months.

Microsoft also revealed that 24 million Kinect sensors had be sold to date.

Xbox Live meanwhile grew 15 per cent year-on-year to 46 million subscribers.

During 2012, the Xbox 360 clocked up 18 billion hours of entertainment, a rise of ten per cent year-on-year, with the average user spending 87 hours per month on the console.

Entertainment app uses grew 57 per cent in 2012 compared to 2011, while online multiplayer gaming also increased, although Microsoft did not reveal by how much exactly and compared to what year.

Microsoft also claimed that its audience had broadened during the last year, with 38 per cent of Xbox Live users being female.
