Yorkshire Games Festival returns to Bradford this November

The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford is playing host to the second Yorkshire Games Festival this November. Sponsored by Bradford College, the event is running from Wednesday 8th to Sunday 12th November and will feature talks from developers who have worked with some of the UK’s top development studios.

Talks on the industry and on top games include representatives from TT Games, Frontier Developments, Ninja Theory and Criterion. Ghost Town Games will also be on hand to deliver a talk on Overcooked. Friday will also feature a keynote from Bradford born Iki Ikram who worked for Uncharted developer Naughty Dog as a VFX artist.

The event is held to help educate and to create a network for the games industry in the area. As well the Business and development side of the conference there is also an Educational day on Wednesday 8th November where schools at key stage 2 and key stage 3 educational levels can come and learn everything from coding to storytelling.

Tickets start at £35 a ticket for the Thursday to Friday speakers events, with a special Let’s Play event on Saturday and Sunday free to attend. Schools wishing to visit for the Educational Day should contact the event organiser.

There are scores of brilliant games events all across the UK, across Europe even, but we want to take a different approach with the Yorkshire Games Festival," said the festival’s director, Kathryn Penny. “Across the five days, we’ll be bringing some of the industry’s brightest and best to Bradford to discuss frankly what they’ve learned from being behind some of the most creative and successful titles out there. In the midst of all this will be the next generation – the games industry’s future stars, lapping up that expertise and that knowledge for the years ahead.”
