Anonymous targets child porn sites

Just a few months ago it was the bane of many publishers’ existence, but now hacking collective Anonymous has set out on morally positive venture.

The group has claimed responsibility for attacks on 40 websites that are being used to share indecent images of children.

Furthermore, Anonymous has already published the login details of 1,500 members of child porn network Lolita City. The action was taken after the site’s hosting company, Freedom Hosting, was requested to remove the offending content – a request it ignored.

"We are eliminating 40+ child pornography websites, among these is Lolita City, one of the largest child pornography websites to date containing more than 100GB of child pornography," an Anonymous statement read.

The group also warned any other companies who are currently hosting such content that unless they remove it, they will be targeted next.

Anonymous hit the headlines earlier this year after a string of attacks not only on publisher and game websites but also on large multinationals and government organisations.
