Mario Kart 3DS gets third party steering wheel

Upcoming 3DS title Mario Kart 7 is to be the surprise recipient of a third party steering wheel accessory from Hori.

Nintendo’s own steering wheel peripheral of course took centre stage in its last Mario Kart game on Wii, but it’s unusual for such a device to be released for a handheld title.

Andriasang reports that the wheel includes shoulder buttons and is officially licensed by Nintendo. It’s scheduled for release on Amazon.co.jp on December 1st, alongside the game itself, for 1,280 (10.50).

There’s no word yet on whether or not a launch is planned in other territories.
