2K ditches US PR firm Redner

Publisher 2K Games has confirmed that it has ditched US PR firm The Redner Group.

Redner hit the headlines yesterday after publicly threatening to blacklist – as in, stop sending out review code for upcoming games – any media that it felt was too harsh on the critically slammed Duke Nukem Forever.

"Bad scores are fine. Venom filled reviews – that’s completely different," the agency said via Twitter. "Too many went too far with their reviews.

"We are reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn’t based on today’s venom."

Despite later deleting the tweets and apologising to both 2K and the media, the Take-Two label has now confirmed its decision to terminate the contract.

"2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products," it stated.

"We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don’t condone The Redner Group’s actions at all."
