Resident Evil remakes are digital only

As was rumoured yesterday, Capcom has confirmed that it will re-release both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica in HD.

Interestingly, both will be available only as digital downloads via Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network and will not be boxed releases at retail.

Both will be release some time this autumn and will commemorate the 15 year anniversary of the franchise.

The move is the latest example of Capcom’s digital ambitions, which were well and truly buoyed by the massive success of Dead Rising 2 prequel DLC Case Zero last year.

Since its debut in 1996 the Resident Evil franchise has sold in excess of 45m units across a wide assortment of titles and platforms.
