Scottish group Axis Animation behind the highly popular video

Dead Island trailer creators revealed

A virally distributed trailer for the Dead Island game was created at Glasgow-based production firm Axis Animation, Develop understands.

Dead Island, a survival horror title, is currently in development at Polish studio Techland.

Last night a non-gameplay trailer of the project launched, to widespread applause across games blogs and Twitter feeds.

The video has been viewed at least 125,000 times in 16 hours on YouTube – not counting the numerous other platforms that have hosted the trailer.

Axis Animation – which has previously produced trailers and footage for Mass Effect 2 and Killzone 2 – has declined to comment.

Dead Island is due for release this year on Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will be published by Deep Silver.
