The Hut Group plots more acquisitions

Zavvi.com’s operator has vowed to buy more companies as it looks to widen its product range.

The Hut Group – which also runs a string of other business-to-business entertainment websites – recently purchased UK gifting giant Iwantoneofthose.com and health and beauty specialist LookFantastic.

And the company’s commercial director said these acquisitions will impact its entertainment brands.

These acquisitions help us balance out the gender and age demographics in our database. It gives us a broader range of customers,” said Richard Chapple.

We are always on the lookout. If the right business came along, with the right database and the right brand, we would always consider it. But we are very keen to grow and invest in Zavvi and our B2B entertainment brands.”

The LookFantastic deal set The Hut Group back 19.4m, and saw the company pick up several web brands and even a range of salons.
