Developers to team up again with the company that previously shut them out

Robot Entertainment rekindles old Microsoft flame

Robot Entertainment, the development outfit formed from the ashes of axed studio Ensemble, is said to be teaming up with the very publisher that shut it down.

Late in 2008 Microsoft axed Ensemble Studios, the decorated Age Of Empires developer, in what was widely regarded as a brutal and unnecessary move. Though shocked at first, the affected staff moved on to form a number of splinter groups.

One of those splinter groups, Robot Entertainment, is now said to be working with its former master.

The Texas-based studio is working on ‘Project S’, an as-yet unannounced strategy title uncovered by news site Kotaku. The developer’s website suggests the group is working on two separate projects, one of which has struck a publishing deal with Microsoft Game Studios.

The studio is hiring.
