Founders West and Zampella primed to make a key announcement at the event

[Update] Respawn to emerge from the ashes at E3

An important update on this story can be found here.

Respawn, the new EA-backed studio formed after a high profile row between Activision and Infinity Ward, will step out of the shadows at E3.

On the group’s public Facebook page, Respawn founders Jason West and Vince Zampella announced that there is going to be a “big time announcement at E3 next week.”

The duo have been hungrily hiring staff since they founded Respawn early in April. The studio is West and Zampella’s new enterprise having been sacked from their managerial posts at Infinity Ward.

Full details on that saga – its twists and turns and lawsuits and fair share of surprises – can be found here.

Now Respawn is securing the services of senior designers who have decided to break away from Infinity Ward. To date, over 35 developers have left Infinity Ward since the dismissal of Zampella and West, though less than half have publicly emerged at Respawn.

Respawn has signed a long-term publishing deal with EA, and it is expected that the group will use E3 to announce its new project under the new partnership.
